Browns Canyon Rafting Trip
Considered to be the most popular rafting trip in Colorado & in the United States, this has often been the first raft trip of many whitewater addicts and the training ground for many river guides. This is the rafting trip that made the Arkansas River famous! It is a great trip for families, first timers or any white water enthusiast. It is a remote, beautiful canyon with numerous world class rapids.
The waters run Class III and IV in Browns Canyon, you will run rapids with names like Pinball, Zoom Flume, Widowmaker and the infamous Seidels Suckhole to mention a few. This trip is run all season, but only as a full day trip and of course, it is accompanied with our excellent lunch. We run this rafting trip for groups of 10 or more only for the Full Day trip or as part of our "Browns Canyon/Royal Gorge" two-day trip. A minimum of 4 people is required to book an overnight or two-day trip.
Browns Canyon is a great option for those staying in, or planning to come this way from Breckenridge or Summit County to raft on the Arkansas.
At WAO, when we run trips in Browns Canyon, we travel a bit to get there. If you are a party of less than 10 we may be going there and can add you to an existing trip the day you want to raft, so be sure to give us a call to check availability. Often when we have folks in Browns, the best option is for you to meet us there, at Stone Bridge recreation site, which is part of the State Park (AHRA) we operate in and is the "take-out" or the spot where your trip in Browns Canyon ends for the day. By doing this, you will be at your vehicle when you get off the rafting trip and there are restrooms and changing areas at Stone Bridge. We simply swing in with our shuttle vehicle, typically a bus, and pick you up on our way to the put-in or starting point at a pre-determined time, usually 9:30 am. We have found this works out very well and folks avoid riding the shuttle to and from our office near Canon City, particularly for those coming from Denver, Colorado Springs or from the north in the Breckenridge/Summit county area.
If you meet us at Stone Bridge for a trip in Browns Canyon, be aware that there is a $7.00 per vehicle fee to park within the AHRA for the day. There are signs and a "pay-tube" with daily vehicle Parks passes at the site when you pull in to the parking lot.
If you are meeting us in Browns Canyon for a rafting trip, we require payment in full in advance of your trip. We also request that you give us sizing info on participants so we can show up with the correct sizes of PFD's (lifejackets) and wetsuits and splash jackets if we are recommending those for the trip.
