Royal Gorge Route Railway

Holy Cross Abbey & Winery
Canon City’s own vineyard! The Holy Cross Abbey was once a functional monastery complete with real Monks. Royal Gorge History Museum
Located in Canon City at the corner of 6th & Royal Gorge Blvd., This museum offers exhibits and research materials that portray and interpret the history of the region and its people. The museum is located in the former municipal building built in 1927. Be sure to see “Turn up the Volume: the History of the Phonograph,” one of the largest phonograph and Victrola exhibits anywhere.
Museum of Colorado Prisons
This museum is located in Canon City next to the Territorial Prison, the first prison ever built in Colorado. Learn more about Colorado’s prison history in a former women’s prison operated by the State of Colorado. Exhibits include the last gas chamber and the hangman’s noose.
